Hi all,

My CDK14 rig is currently setup with the 0.66x reducer, and I am using Rouz Astro’s OAG conversion kit. So far, I am happy with the way the reducer is performing in terms of illuminating a full frame sensor, and the tilt/curvature.

However, I think there is room for improvement in terms of star spot sizes. Even when the seeing monitor at our remote site shows ~0.8-1” of seeing, I can’t seem to get below 2.25-2.50” FWHM with the reducer.

The platesolved focal length actually shows up between 1703-1704mm the way I have currently set up the spacing, putting the focal ratio around f/4.78. From the PW docs however, it appears that the ideal focal ratio is closer to f/4.83, which is around 1719-1720mm.

Has anyone here used the 0.66x reducer, and if so, what was the nominal focal ratio in your case? I am trying to collect more data points as I tinker with this thing.

Thanks so much for your thoughts!
Ani

PS: I know I can go native and probably get better performance, but I am enjoying the field of view a little too much and want to see if I can get more out of the reducer first.
