NGC300 - Sculptor Pinwheel Galaxy

Here is an image of NGC300, also known as the Sculptor Pinwheel Galaxy, which was created by combining LRGB and Ha. The LRGB data used here was obtained from the Telescope Live data archive, but I have newly acquired Ha data using the same telescope and camera combination as for the LRGB, because of the absence of Ha data in the archive. The Ha image was extracted and cleaned with the continuum subtraction method, and then added to broad band images.

Initially, I set the SPCC white reference to the average spiral galaxy, but I felt the spiral arms a bit too bluish and the bulge too whitish (or it may be just a matter of my personal preference...). In PixInsight, the average spiral galaxy uses the average spectrum of intermediate spiral galaxies classified as Sb, Sc, and Sd as a reference, and this reference is close to that of Sc galaxies. NGC300 is classified as SAcd in the Hubble and de Vaucouleurs galaxy morphological classification, so I decided to choose Sd as the white reference when processing this image.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
