Description

StDr56 or the Goblet of Fire Nebula is an ultra-faint planetary nebula in the constellation Triangulum, discovered by my friend Marcel Drechsler and Xavier Strottner.

This nebula has the coolest structure of any PN I know of, but in order to reveal this structure you need a LOT of exposure time. Even with over 200hrs of exposure time, this nebula was quite faint.

I shot this nebula as a fun test shot to test the new telescope system that I just finished building. It is composed of three RASA8 scopes with monochrome cameras to collect data quickly on low surface brightness objects just like this one. I have a video discussing the system here

I hope y'all enjoy the image!

I also figure some people are curious to see the raw data to understand what to expect to see if you try to shoot it. Here is my raw narrowband stack with only the stars removed. As you can see, it is extremely faint and noisy. This is a TOUGH target, but certainly worth it.
