My final image of 2024 to wish you all a Happy New Year. This is a WIP so hopefully the forecast clear nights on 2nd and 3rd January 2025 will allow me to complete it.
A three panel mosaic with a combination of RGB, Ha and OIII data, all from my One Shot Colour camera. This is the first time I've constructed a mosaic using Pixinsight. I have to give thanks to
Franklin Marek (Seti Astro) for his
YouTube tutorial which explained clearly how to use MosaicByCoordinates and GradientMergeMosaic which worked really well. I had the added challenge of extracting the Ha and OIII signal from the individual OSC panels and merging each channel separately and then re-registering them all.
The first revision is processed as standard RGB+HOO and an alternate palette is shown with the mouse-over. I will be adding SII signal to this as soon as I get the opportunity and reprocessing it as SHO and perhaps some other colour mappings if I get time.
24/1/2025 I've now added SII to all three panels and reprocessed in standard SHO. All in all a successful project using single bandpass 3nm filters with my colour camera. Not quite the quality of signal from a mono camera but the end result is good enough for printing large - this is definitely going on my wall.
