Description

NGC 7822 is a star-forming complex located in the constellation Cepheus, about 3,000 light-years away from Earth.

The region is notable for its active star formation, hosting young stars, protostars, and dense molecular clouds. The complex is dominated by the emission nebula Cederblad 214 and features dark nebulae and bright-rimmed clouds shaped by intense radiation from the hot, young stars. These stellar winds create stunning pillars and globules within the nebula, similar to the more famous "Pillars of Creation" in the Eagle Nebula. NGC 7822 is a rich area of study for astronomers, providing insights into the processes of star formation and the interaction between young stars and their natal environments.

This shot is another test shot from the new observatory, but I loved how processing this limited data in SHO revealed hints of the incredible pillars and globules waiting for a closer look!
