Description

A fairly steady if not transparent night last Monday allowed me to continue fine tuning my old Meade 2080 SCT. I added a 5mm spacer (thanks Tony @Taman) and this has tidied up the stars.

An old but favourite target, the bubble nebula is a good test for any optical system. A bit fuzzy around the edges, which I expect is down to sub-optimal sky conditions, as much as optical aberrations.

Captured at f6.3 (1260mm) in this setup with my Altair 183C and L-eNhance Duo filter. The resolution at 0.3”/px is ridiculously oversampled for these conditions; I’ll post a resampled 2x2 version with a more realistic image scale.

The original processed with my usual workflow - stacked with Siriic into separate Ha and OIII channels, GraXpert AI background extraction, denoising, and now object deconvolution in the latest beta release. I pushed the blues quite a bit, to bring out the OIII in and around the bubble.

Rev C (mouseover) is processed using @Franklin Marek  amazing suite of standalone tools, statistical stretch, AI sharpened and denoised - impressive. No doubt GHS allows more control of detail and overall colour palette, but AI quite well balanced. What do you all think?

Title: Annotated (SIMBAD)

Description: Another Astro Seti marvel brought to us in his standalone Astrosuite - 'what's in my image' provides a detailed review of objects of interest within a platesolved image using the SIMBAD database. Whilst the resolution of my images is insufficient to show off most of these objects, the table of items provides details and allows click through to the full SIMBAD page.

Description: The bubble nebula ~8 light years in diameter, 7,100 LY from earth and formed by stellar ‘winds’ at 4 million mph!
