Description

The Triangulum Galaxy is named after the constellation in which you can find it (constellation Triangulum, who would have thought that) and with a distance of about 2.7 million light years one of the closest galaxies to our own galaxy - the milky way.
According to calculations and observations of astronomers the Triangulum Galaxy could be bound gravitationally to the Andromeda Galaxy as they both are only 1 million light years away from each other.
Under dark skies and perfect conditions you can observe the Triangulum Galaxy with the naked eye.
The „pink spots“ you can see in this picture are huge star forming regions within the galaxy.
