Description

NGC 6946 is an interesting galaxy.  It's viewed through the galactic plane of the Milky Way and presents imaging and processing challenges.  NGC 6946 is considered a starburst galaxy in addition to being nick named the Fireworks Galaxy due to the 10 supernovae that have been observed during the last century or so.  NGC 6946 has also been classified as a double-barred spiral galaxy, with the inner, smaller bar although I find it difficult to see.   With the 46.5 hours of integration time, the far outer arms can be faintly visible.  I imaged this galaxy with a completely different rig in 2022 and was not happy with the final result so I decided to devote much more time in it this time with my newer equipment.  Hopefully, it shows.
