Description

Messier 2 (NGC 7089) is a class II globular, making it one of the most densely concentrated cores. M2 contains about 150,000 stars. The cluster is located in the constellation Aquarius and it approximately 37,500 light years from Earth. At 13.8 billion years old, M2 is one of the oldest globular clusters in the Milky Way. M2 was the first globular cluster in Messier’s catalogue, added in 1783.
