Description

This is Messier 20, The Triffid Nebula.  One of my favorite targets in the night sky.  I have imaged this with my Stellarvue 102, but I think this is the first time with the Celestron 8 SCT.  For me, living in the latitude that I do, this is the only time of year that I can image this target.  It never gets more than about 30 degrees about the horizon to the south of me.  That is the hardest part of the sky, as the glow from Boston and other towns south of me, is the worst.  But with the new filters, it is amazing what we can get, even with all the light pollution.  The good news about shooting this low in the sky, at least this time of year, is that there are not many satellites in this part of the sky.  Also, being this close to the solstice, the nights here are very short.   Not perfect.  I am learning some new ways to process. However, overall I am happy with this image, considering my window for imaging is short, and the target is low!  Clear Skies
Mark
