Description

Presenting NGC 1999, a reflection nebula in the constellation Orion and is around 1350 light-years away. The fascinating and mysterious dark patch at the center of the image is actually an empty region of space. The reason behind this mystery in the heart of NGC 1999 remains unknown but is being investigated still.

This is imaged in LRGB from the Planewave CDK700 in Observatorio El Sauce, thank you to Mike Selby for acquiring this amazing data!
