Description

SH 2-94 is part of a Supernova remnant SNR 065.2+05.7.  The full SNR has a diameter of about 70 parsecs and an age of about 20 thousand years.
It is located in the constellation Cygnus the Swan approximately 2500 light-years distant.

This faint object was difficult to process. I finally ended up combining 30% HSO and 70% ForaxX.
I tried several different processing lines but ended up with the following.
Any comments or suggestions would be welcome.

PixInsight
1. Blink - get rid of the worse subs
2. SubframeSelector - keep the best subs
3. WeightedBatchPreprocessor - preprocess and stack Ha, Oiii, Sii, Red, Green, Blue

4. Open Ha, Oiii, Sii
5. BlurXterminator - Ha, Oiii, Sii
6. StarXterminator - Ha, Oiii, Sii - keep the starless images
7. PixelMath - create HSO and Foraxx images.
7a. PixelMath - combine 30% HSO and 70% ForaxX. Rename the new image HSOForaxX
8. Stretch HSOForaxX with ScreenTransferFunction and HistogramTransformation
9. NoiseXterminator - HSOForaxX with default settings
10. Finish stretching with HistogramTransformatioen
11. CurvesTransformation - RGB/K S-curve
12. SCNR - invert HSOForaxX and remove the green at 80% - This will turn green to blue
13. ColorSaturation - Red up, Blue up to taste
14. NoiseXterminator -  apply again with 0.70 and 0.20

15. Open Red, Green, Blue
16. BlurXterminator - Red, Green, Blue
17. PixelMath - combine Red, Green, Blue and rename image RGB
18. StarXterminator - RGB image - rename new image 'Stars'
19. HistogramTransformation - stretch Stars image and even the bkgnd color
20. ColorSaturation - raise the entire line and apply to Stars

21. PixelMath - RGB/K : combine(HSOForaxX, Stars, op_screen()) - rename new image SH_2_94
22. Open Lightroom and adjust to taste

This is fairly straightforward processing but it seemed to work fairly well for this image.
There is a lot of mottling in the image, I don't know if that is normal or from my processing ?
Jerryyyy also imaged this area and his image has the mottling so maybe it's part of the SNR.

It seems that the mottling is from stretching this very faint object.
I tried different methods of stretching and it's not easy to remove the mottling and get a nice bright image.

I used a combination of GeneralizedHyperbolicStretch and HistogramTransformation.
I stretched the background a little less and it helped with the mottling.
UnsharpMask -
      StdDev = 250, Amount: 0.23, Low Range: 0.17, High Range: 0.13.
      This added a bit of contrast and darkened the background a little (the bkgnd is where the mottling lives.)
