Description

This is NGC 206, a bright star cloud in the Andromeda galaxy, 2.5 million light years from earth. It includes many stars in an OB Association characterized by hot massive blue stars that quickly burn through their hydrogen and end their lives in supernova explosions. There is significant new star formation in this molecular cloud, which is highlighted by the red areas in the image composed of ionized hydrogen.
The image includes over 11 hours of exposures with an 8” LX200 ACF OTA and an ASI2600MC camera, using two different filters (Optolong L-PRO and Antila ALP-T), a CEM40 mount, ASIAIR+, and ASI174mm mini and OAG for guiding, processed in Astro Pixel Processor and Photoshop
