Description

B 343 is one of the dark nebulae in E. E. Barnard’s catalogue. It sits about 2 degrees west of Gamma Cygni and 2 degrees north of the Crescent nebula, and maybe for this reason it doesn’t have many “individual” images on Astrobin. The region immediately surrounding this cold knot of interstellar medium is, however, very interesting, with emission nebulae and filaments glowing in all the three wavelengths typically captured by narrowband imagers. This image is a rendering in the Hubble palette of SHO data.
