Description

EGB 1, also known as HDW 1, is located 1000 light years away in the constellation of Cassiopeia.  It is of magnitude 16.4 and spans approximately 6 arcminutes.

EGB 1 was identified in the 1960:s, but it was Ellis, Grayson and Bond who in 1984 suggested that it was a planetary nebula. However, it has later been detemined that EGB 1 is an ionized ISM nebula.

The nebula is deformed, especially in Ha, likely from interaction with the ISM.

All exposures are unguided 120s at f/2 and binned 1x1. A dynamic combination of Ha and Oiii was used that was recombined into a LRGB image with Ha as luminance. Image is drizzled and cropped.
