Description

Located in the Perseus arm of the Milky Way,  6,600 light years from Earth, in the constellation Taurus. The Crab Nebula is a supernova remnant that was first observed as it appeared by Chinese astronomers in 1054. It is still expanding and currently measures 11 light years across (http://www.messier.seds.org/m/m001.html)

This image captures Ha and OIII emissions using the L-extreme filter with a SW 14¨GOTO Dobson. The new autocenter feature of Sharpcap 4.1 was used to help guide the scope during the capture of 988 frames. Processed in Pixinsight using Narrow Band Normalization to enhance OIII signal.
