Description

IC 342,  nicknamed the Hidden Galaxy, is a stunning spiral galaxy located in the constellation Camelopardalis. Positioned near the plane of the Milky Way, it is heavily obscured by interstellar dust from our own galaxy. This cosmic veil gives IC 342 a distinctive yellowish tint and a somewhat fuzzy appearance in visible light, making it a challenging but rewarding target,

Despite the obscuration, IC 342 is a grand design spiral galaxy with well-defined spiral arms teeming with star-forming regions. If not for the dust, it would be one of the brightest galaxies visible from Earth.
