Description

DEEPSKY SPACE OBJECT | LRGBHOO | 250mm
THE VEIL NEBULA COMPLEX
- Constellation Cygnus

All good things come in threes, so today, to conclude the series, I'm showing the Veil Nebula one more time, this time in LRGBHOO format, taken in 2023, directly from my balcony in the city under a light-polluted Bortle 7 sky. I left out the cropped sections this time, you can find them in the link under Astrobin. The higher resolution of Astrobin definitely pays off with this image processing, Facebook compresses far too much :-)
I find these supernova relics sometimes the most difficult to edit, not too much red/pink/blue, but also not too little, so that it looks homogeneous and not like plastic ^^

The Veil Nebula Complex is a breathtaking cosmic work of art that stretches across the night sky and goes by various names - it is also known as the Cirrus Nebula or Cygnus Arc, as well as the Filament or Veil Nebula and is located in the constellation of the Swan. This fascinating nebula consists of the remains of a massive supernova explosion that took place thousands of years ago in our galaxy, the Milky Way. The supernova relic is divided into different parts, including the Eastern, Western and Central Veil Nebulae. These delicate nebular structures consist mainly of luminous gas and fine dust left behind by the remnants of the exploded star.
