Description

M92 is the second most famous globular cluster in Hercules.  Shining at magnitude 6.5, it's a bright target that benefits from short exposures.

I shot the RGB data for this project in June of 2018 during the pathetic period of my imaging history when I was stuck on the upper floor of a city apartment building.  After hauling my C11 EdgeHD and 200 pounds of gear and batteries down three flights of stairs, I drove out to the Pittstown State Forest, which is a decent Bortle 4 site that has a couple of treeless places that permit imaging.  However, the seeing was poor that night, probably due to being situated on the side of a mountain.

Last night, I was able to get 3 hours of luminance from home (also Bortle 4, and in Pittstown) with above average seeing.  I could not believe that the forest fire smoke cleared out and I had a full night without clouds.  I would not have believed it if you told me even two days ago that there would be a good night for imaging this month.  The new luminance frames are quite a bit sharper than the 2018 RGB frames, allowing me to complete this project to my satisfaction.
