I have the combo...BUT..I have a tilt issue that ruins my corners. I have stopped fiddling with it and use a 533 on it now. I want to get the 2600 working, but I am impatient. I have the Starizona filter drawer too. I have not tried to guide with it yet. |

I am using a similar setup with Altair Hypercam 26C (same chip as the ASI 2600) on an SCT EdgeHD 8" with Hyperstar v4. Initially, I had issues with pinched stars in some of the corners. This was mostly fixed after collimation of the Hyperstar lens, and a little adjustment of the corrector plate on the SCT. If you don't have a collimation kit, I would recommend Al's collimation aid, a free software tool that you can use to check your collimation by comparing out-of-focus stars with concentric rings drawn in the software. You can find it in this thread: https://stargazerslounge.com/topic/136286-als-collaid-sct-collimating-assistant/ Even after achieving very good collimation, stars may still be slightly pinched. In my experience, this may happen with specific filters, as different filter thickness will add to the back focus with a varying amount. A typical filter will add +/-1mm to the back focus length, which may cause imperfect back focus if the filter thickness is different from what Starizona originally assumed a typical user will use. My solution was to buy a set of fine-tune rings of various thicknesses, like 0.2-0.8mm and experimented with them to find the best combination for the specific filte, and Here is a recent photo I took with this combination: https://www.astrobin.com/w88o0v/ Clear skies! -Martin |
