is anybody aware of a good tutorial explaining how to merge SHO data with RGB data for stars? or is anybody willing to share his workflow on this subject in some detail? thank you! |

To be specific depends on what program and any plugins you use. To be general, first make sure your RGB and your SHO image are aligned and cropped the same. On your SHO image Gradient correction, color correction, deconvolution, noise reduction, then star removal and toss out the stars image you get. After that stretch your SHO image and do whatever you want with it. With your stars image do the same thing, except keep the stars and toss out the leftover image. Then sometime once you have your SHO image the way you like, combine your stars and you've got your image. |

@Quinn Groessl has the just of it, but to add its going to depend on what software your using. I do not use Siril so I can’t comment on how that software is able to combine 2 images or if its even possible. In PI once you have your starless image of the object. Name it “starless” and once the star layer is processed name it “stars”. In PI use PixelMath and use this formula: ~((~starless)*(~stars)) and run the process. When I use it I always check mark “create new image” Dale |

@Roberto Testi and @Dale Penkala There are 2 or 3 options to recombine several "channels" to a final image with Siril alone: 1. Menu "Image Processing > Star Processing > Star recomposition" Here usually a starless (select it for the left side) and stars image (select it for the right side) can be recombined with a whole lot of stretching and overlay parameters. But you can combine whatever you like. 2. Menu "Image Processing > RGB Compositon" or "... > Merge CFA Channels" 3. Menu "Image Processing > Pixel Math" Select and recombine up to 10 (I believe) Images with the full power of PixelMath Good luck and clear skies, Frank |
