It broke my scripts. GraXpert stopped working. Star Stretch directly killed the app and I lost half an hour of progress. Rant over. I'm rolling back to 1.8.9-2. |

Rant continues: now 1.8.9-2 is completely broken. I'll try to uninstall, delete all folders and reinstall one more time. I'm extremely upset. 1.8.9-2 was working excellently fine before updating to 1.8.9-3. I thought I was going to spend this rainy night re-editing old data... I'm fixing stuff that wasn't broken. |

Update: uninstalling, deleting all folders, reinstalling 1.8.9-2, re-activating the license, re-adding all repositories and modules and running updates brought me to the perfectly fine 1.8.9-2 install I had before. I won't update to 1.8.9-3 anytime soon: "if ain't broke, don't fix it.". |

I must admit, it also broke my Graxpert script also, but I just went in and renamed it to Graxperty.xsgn and it all worked fine again. (Although I did make sure to re download the latest Graxpert and run it first).

Happens pretty much every time Pixinsight gets updated. I just wait to update for a few days to give the developers of the scripts a chance to update their stuff.

All the more reason to not use scripts. The processes work amazingly well.

Agree with the others who wait. I generally wait a few months before updating. Now, I rarely encounter a problem when updating. Gives everyone time to get bugs and script updates sorted out. @Monty Chandler there are editing tools and features with scripts that are not process supported yet (or maybe never will be). I find that the more advanced I become as a PI user, the more I start exploring scripts and processes to help me achieve my imagined result. I've been using PI for 8 years, and still feel like I am only scratching the surface for what is possible.... |

Same... if you have no problem with the existing version, why update right away? Wait until all the bugs are worked out.

Just to throw in my experience. Moving to 1.8.9.3 broke my instance of the nbcolourmapper script. Reverted back to 1.8.9.2 with no problems...

Franco Grimoldi: hi Until the scripts get updated by the author, you can simply delete the corresponding XSGN file that goes with each. (In the PixInsight/src/scripts/Toolbox folder.) sample ------- Graxpert.xsgm file sample2--------CombineImages.xsgm file CS, Brian |

Brian Diaz:Franco Grimoldi: I did that. GraXpert continued throwing errors and other scripts would directly make the whole app to crash to my desktop, losing all progress. Being that the app and its add-ons was extremely stable and reliable before the update, I don't see any reason at all to move away from 1.8.9-2. An error message can be annoying and require some troubleshooting but losing a complete editing session twice due to software crashes is not something I'm willing to continue experiencing. |

I've been waiting on this thread ever since I got the 1.8.9.3 upgrade notice. It's amazing how my supernatural powers foresaw this.

Hi @Brian Diaz , Thanks for following up. I'm sorry but I won't go back to 1.8.9-3 for the time being. It took me a couple of hours to revert all the damage and the lost edits are gone for good. I'd really prefer to spend my time with PixInsight editing, learning and practicing my skills, not troubleshooting issues I didn't have, to begin with. |

Just don't hurry to update. Keep in mind that PI developers aren't interested that much in third-party scripts (a fair reason for that is their lack of time) and third-party developers work on their spare time.

Tom Boyd: All my CosmicPhotons scripts and processes are now up and running through the repository system, including nbcolourmapper. Gaillard Jérôme: I'm sure Paulyman will be updating his repository in due course. Until then you can download the script from here and install manually. If you are not familiar with manual installation of scripts here is a step by step guide: Download the directory from Paul's google drive linked above. Add the ForaxxPalette directory (not just the ForaxxPalette.js file) to your PixInsight/src/scripts directory In PixInsight go to the Script menu and click on Feature Scripts Click on the Add button at the bottom left of the dialog Navigate to the src/scripts folder and click Open PixInsight should say that it has found an additional script Click Done Quit and restart PixInsight The Foraxx Pallette script should now be in Script>Utilities ----------------------- Toolbox scripts Jurgen is working on these and they should be available before long - see this link. I hope these comments are helpful CS, Mike |

Like others, I'm going to roll back to 1.8.9-2. Looks like 1.8.9-3 is currently quite unstable. Open image, Linear Fit, Crop, ImageSolver - and it's crashed a few times at various points in that flow.

Let me report a different experience. I installed 1.8.9-3 today and then updated all repositories. Everything has been running fine, including Open Image, Image Solver, NBColorMapper, Statistical Stretch, Star Stretch, GHS, GAME and other scripts. I sympathize with those who have had a different experience and I have no idea why my result has been more favorable. I hope everyone's issues resolve quickly. Best, Jeff |

To add my 2c (and I am sure this has been brought up many times): I do think the PI team need to invest some time in a proper update mechanism. I also did the manual thing and lots of stuff broke/had to be manually fixed. This is a solved problem on all 3 platforms, and pretty much every other commercial sw works this way. |
