I took this image with my beloved C14 edge https://www.astrobin.com/loa687/B/ I am always in a quandry on how to scale the images to something that would be pleasing, I may be stuck in some old fashion way to present images, advices would be welcome. Also, does anybody still cares for monochrome images ? |

thank you John. I may play again with a web based FITS viewer again something, to give more latitude to the person examining the image. FITS takes no prisonners and often the very faint background of galaxies is something you want to show. I just do not like compressing the dynamic range too much. |

Hi Benoit, in my humble opinion, framing is really a question of taste and goals. I like to see DSO in their star field, close framing is concentrating on details and is less "poetic" to me. I told you it's a question of personal taste ;-) Your image is really beautiful and detailed, do you have a version with a wider FOV?. Regarding colors, for me sometimes it adds depth (most probably from a brain mechanism learned on earth) . But I can spend nights looking through my 22inches in pure B&W :-) CS Frédéric |
