Description

Sh2-185 is an emission and reflection nebula, visible in the constellation of Cassiopeia; it consists of two distinct nebular regions with different characteristics: IC 59 and IC 63. They are located about 613 a.l. from our solar system. The two nebulae gravitate around the star Navi (Tsih or γ Cas / γ Cassiopeiae), a young blue giant, which ionises the hydrogen zones and gives the typical blue colour to the dust reflecting its light.
