Description

VDB158 is a blue reflection nebula located at the end of an elongated molecular cloud.  It is located roughly 1,400 light years away in the Andromeda constellation.

Also visible on the right hand side of the image below VDB158 is the small blue planetary nebula PK 110-12.1.  It is roughly 10 times further way, estimated to be 13.8k to 17.1k light years away.

It is worth having a look at the full resolution image to explore the many background galaxies and the planetary nebula in more detail.  Ideal conditions and lots of luminance data enabled some pretty impressive resolution and color on these very small and distant features.

Hope you enjoy.
