In a way, I am happy with this image ~ 2-1/2 hours on a night after the Full Moon. But, there were challenges ....
I acquired my
Meade SN10 favorably and put a few bucks into a better focuser. This goes back a while, but
@Dan Brown employed his mechanical excellence and we got the upgrades in place. And then my first "test" (M81) ~ certainly
nothing to write home about. I've thought about abandoning the project, but just put it aside. I've now renewed interest, as a 10" f/4 working well is quite the Light Bucket.
@Tim Ray has been encouraging its use ....
Last night, I set up in the back driveway thinking (once again
) that my collimation was good. It wasn't. The stars were outright horrible - perhaps even some coma ... but then
BlurX did its thing and the Master Light looked somewhat salvageable.
I am hoping to get this scope actually collimated, and then we'll see. It may yet be capable of producing a
better-than-just-okay image.
