Description

Forest fire smoke has been rearing its ugly head again this time of year here in Michigan. I didn't think I would ever finish this one. I initially thought it wasn't going to be that difficult, as I saw the OIII ring in a single sub. Boy I was wrong. The rest of it is super faint. My bortle 8 sky scale doesn't help either. Narrowband of course helps with my skies, but when the object is super faint it doesn't help as much. I chose to mostly concentrate on OIII, as there is really no structure in Ha.

K1-17 (PK 051+06 1, PN G051.5+06.1 and numerous other designations) is a planetary nebula located approximately 10,400 light-years away in Sagitta. It was discovered by the Czech astronomer Dr. Luboš Kohoutek in 1963. It was discovered by visual examination of National Geographic Society-Palomar Observatory Sky Survey prints. It is about 56 arc seconds of it's core, but the outskirts are about 2 arc minutes.
