Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a barred spiral galaxy located 180 million light years away in the constellation of Crater at a declination of -9 degrees.  It is a magnitude 14.5 galaxy which spans 2.8 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a large diameter of 150,000 light years.

From our view perspective, the disk is inclined about 15 degrees from face-on.

This is an interesting galaxy structure.  It has a well defined yellow bar lens surrounded by an inner pseudo-ring.  My collection of galaxies with barlenses is seen here.  The outer disk has arm sections which are hard to trace.  Several possible star clouds and/or small companions are seen throughout the disk.
