Description

The Soul Nebula, also known as IC 1848 or Westerhout 5, is an elusive emission nebula located 6,500 light years in the constellation Cassiopeia. The nebula gets its name from the perceived appearance of a face or soul-like figure in its central regions, created by the interplay of gas, dust, and the energetic radiation emitted by young, massive stars within.

We had a brief pause between the clouds and rain for several days in the Pacific Northwest, offering a rare opportunity to start a new narrowband project. I'm looking forward to the clear skies of summer and fall for more time for monochrome projects!
