Description

The Ptolemy Cluster (named after the greek polymath) is one of the few easy naked-eye clusters (although easy is a subjective measure). Viewing from the shore of Sardinia it was easy enough if you know where to look as the MW isn't as thick there as further north (or south, as I may speculated based on pictures). Nice problems to have...

Anyways, the issue is still present when we turn to wide field pictures taken with fast lenses. My instinct would be to use curves to push the mid-tones up but that renders the contrast between cluster and surrounding star field less pronounced. So, against my instincts, I decide not to push it and leave the whole tonality a notch below what would be otherwise (e.g. the Pipe Nebula picture).
