Description

M67 is an open cluster in Cancer. The cluster’s mass is about 1080 times that of the Sun and it lies around 2,750 light years away. It has a radius of about 10 light years and appears to be about the size of the full Moon on the sky.

It is now January 14, 2024, with no clear nights since this was taken last December 12. We now have 2+ feet of snow covering the backyard patio, which is my main observing site. Temperatures have been negative double digits Fahrenheit. No major thaw, or any clear nights in sight on all forecast sources. This image's data is limited, but I'm not likely to be able to get more data this year. My astrophotography is done until spring, barring a major shift in the weather/clouds.
