Description

Hello star friends,
this time I only have something profane, Messier 44 as widefield.

I wanted to test guiding with spiral dithering in PHD2. It seems to work better with the short focal length than random dithering.

from wikipedia :
Messier 44, M44 or Praesepe (Latin for nativity scene, in English also "Beehive" for "beehive") is the name of an open cluster of stars in astronomy, which can already be seen with the naked eye as a nebula in the evening winter and spring sky. The celestial manger - a kind of glimmer between two stars in the constellation Cancer - was once also used for short-term weather forecasting because it becomes invisible in cirrus clouds.

This star cluster is the second brightest star cluster in the Messier catalog after the Pleiades and stands out in its position because there are no stars brighter than 4th magnitude in Cancer. Although the star cluster of the relatively close Hyades is even brighter, it cannot be recognized directly as a star cluster with its apparently widely distributed stars.

Thanks for watching and stay healthy  !

CS, Wolfgang

- I close the lens to f/5.6
