Description

Again Messier 81 and Messier 82 - the two gravitationally connected galaxies in the constallation Ursus Major. Well known and often imaged. it is a good time now in the winter to grab this target, the nights are long and if clear, then the skies are usually very clear. I used two nights on my RASA11 with the QHY268C camera for this task. Due to high cirrus and some fog, I had to discard quite a lot of the subs, but at the end I was able to use about 8 hours of the accumulated 11 hours. Long accumulation was not possible from my garden due to my neighbours house - the temperature gradient above his roof is too strong for imaging - too much turbulences despite insulation.
The seeing war very good - both nights between 1.2 and 1.4 arsec/pix - which helped of course a lot!
