Description

The member of the Sculptor group is about 11 million light-years away. Due to the low surface brightness we exposed for almost 17 hours. The dark area, the hole, is a zone where star formation has stopped due to insufficient gas reserves - possibly the result of an interaction with another galaxy. Older and reddish stars predominate here.
In the background there ist the Burbidge Chain, a group of galaxies in the distance of 270 million light-years. Between No.3 and 4 there is a faint star stream bridge.
