Another beautiful image.  Thank you!

I have a question.  What happens when two black holes collide?
Alex Woronow Dec 16, 2023
I have not researched that question, but certainly a gravity wave is generated. And I have read that the spin orientations of the individual black holes is altered.

I am traveling over the next few days and may spend some hotel-room time researching that question...should be good!

Cheers,  my friend,

Thanks!  It is an interesting thought.  What if one ingests the other, what is the result?

Alex, when I first saw this image my thought was that this is professional data!  Congratulations on an amazing capture and image!  Truly awe inspiring.

Wonderful image Alex, as always super color and detail! I really like the weird structure and tidal tails that you brought out and very interesting write-up as well, the video was fascinating!

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and may your skies always be clear in 2024!
All the best my friend!

Expanding the Final Version to Full-Screen shows a grid-like artifact within the brighter portions of the image.  Is this an artifact of your processing regimen, or due to a watermark, or something introduced by astrobin??  (Artifact is visible in the lower-res too...)

The detail in your image is astounding! It's almost as if you can feel the two galaxies rotating. Your image is worthy of an Image of the Day.

Thanks much, Arnie. Glad you enjoyed the rendering. IOTD winners are often based on factors other that image quality. So, rather than be frustrated I opted out.

Thanks again!
