Description

Trying to make full use of the last remaining nautical darkness which is sub-optimal, but it's still possible to get some data. I think this is as far as I'll stretch the season though.
A main object I'm aiming to go for next season so this will be a good sort of "survey" as I'm planning it going forward. As expected lots and lots of tiny galaxies pop out around here as well, as I previously saw in my 229 hours deep integration of M81/m82; https://www.astrobin.com/7ih89b/?_ga=2.23581117.645828063.1714993760-1922034466.1686035520

The Pinwheel Galaxy - A face-on spiral galaxy at 21 million ly from earth. It has a diameter of 170.000 ly, which is almost twice as much as our own Milky Way.

Looking at the starless overlay image gives a pretty cool impression of the sheer amount of galaxies, but some of the smaller objects surrounding M101 will be listed here;

The "S" shaped galaxy (PGC 2492787) has a liner-type active galaxy nucleus.

UGC 8882, the faint fuzzy dot making a triangle with the stars HD122007 & HD121892 - A spiral galaxy  more than 27 Million ly from earth

NGC 5474 - A grand design spiral galaxy, also a dwarf galaxy of M101. The gravitational interaction has severly distorted it, which is why the disk is offset from the nucleus.

NGC 5477 - Another dwarf galaxy of M101

NGC 5422 (Slightly out of the FOV) - A lenticular galaxy (in between an elliptical and a spiralling galaxy) and a part of the NGC 5485 group. A 10 billion years old disc with no star formation, about 100 million ly from earth.

Too many to mention here, but the two most prominent ones are;
NGC 5473 -  A lenticular galaxy forming a small galaxy group with NGC 5475 & NGC 5485
NGC 5485 - A lenticular galaxy

UGC 9071 - A spiral galaxy more than 104 million ly from earth.
