Description

This nebula plus its star cluster in its core is one of the most famous nebula and very often imaged. Its beauty is revealed if images with NB filters Ha, OIII and SII are taken - in LRGB it is nice, but not that impressive compared to a NB composition. It can be found in the constellation Unicorn and is now still a good target in the Northern Skies. Its distance from Earth is about 5220 LJ and its dimension about 65Lj.  NGC2244 is the dominant star cluster in the middle of the nebula - which is an emission type nebula.
