          Description

The not commonly photographed SNR G70.0-21.5 may at first glance appear to be not visually interesting. The thin Ha wisps that compose the SNR are surrounded by a relatively bright background of Ha emission, and don't stand out. However, when you take a look at this in some other filters, all of a sudden the overall shape and structure of the SNR is apparent.

I scheduled this SNR for an imaging run not knowing what to expect in the region, and after doing some more digging came to find some visual observers have actually seen this SNR in Oiii. This is a really good sign there is something cool to see.

Supposedly this is a type 1a supernova which occurred around 90,000 years ago,  you can read more on the astrophysics of the SNR in this article

This image is a two panel mosaic, but this was only barely enough for my system. It would've been better to do four panels for sure, but this thing is certainly faint for even my scope. I did pretty good considering there are no other valid shots with Oiii I could've used as a framing reference.

I hope you all enjoy the image!

I recorded a tutorial about processing this image which is available on my webpage along with the raw data so you can process along!
