Description

NGC 281 a.k.a. Pacman Nebula
…………………………..
Discovered nearly 130 years ago by E.E. Barnard, an American astronomer, NGC 281 is an emission nebula that spans nearly 100 light-years and is located about 9,500 light-years from Earth in the constellation Cassiopeia. NGC 281 is also known as the Pacman Nebula for its resemblance to the video game character.
Although it is an emission nebula, the Pacman Nebula is bright enough to be seen with a medium-sized telescope, preferably from low-light locations.
