Description

I've done a number of planetary nebulae but not like this one.  NGC 7662 is a located in the northern constellation Andromeda. It is known as the Blue Snowball NebulaSnowball Nebula, and Caldwell 22.   This nebula has an elliptical shape with a triple-shell structure. The brightest is the main shell, which spans 12″ × 18″. This is surrounded by a fainter outer shell, which has an elliptical form. Both shells are enclosed by a faint, circular halo.  The central star of the planetary nebula is a subdwarf O star with a spectral type of sdO.  It is 5,370 light-years from Earth.

The uniqueness of this object and other very small but bright PNe is the very short integration times necessary to capture them without completely blowing out the core.  Thus, I used 10s sub times for the RGB and 20s times for the NB data.  These data did not produce the sharpest images, but I was pleased with the results given this was my first time using such short Integration times.
