Description

IC 410 a.k.a. Tadpoles Nebula
..........................................................
IC410 is a large emission nebula with an apparent diameter of over 100 light-years, located in the constellation Auriga, at about 12,000 light-years from Earth. The structures visible in the image are true stellar nurseries and are made of gas and dust. These structures are pushed to the edge of the nebula due to radiation and stellar wind caused by the stars from the central part of the nebula, stars which also illuminate the entire nebula. The two remnants of dust and gas visible in the lower left of the attached image are "responsible" for the popular name of this nebula, Tadpoles.
