Description

It feels like a long way but I finally arrived at processing narrowband images. This is the first time that I create a color pallet (in this case SHO). And it took me a while In the end I got 32 hours with f3.75 and I had a lot of fun with the post processing!
I already started my next project and this time I'll make sure to check out PixInsight for such things.

I was glad to see that I finally got some stable 300s exposures (I might switch to OAG in the future to improve the performance a little more). I might have a dent in my RA worm thread... but the sudden impacts every 8min seem to only affect very bright stars... in the final stack it looks like most of it is mitigated for now. I will try to hypertune my EQ6-R at some point. I finally got rid of my tilt... but unfortunately only AFTER this project was captured But enough of this, let's skip to the object itself.

The framing that I chose doesn't remind of north america in any way... so I decided to dub this project it in a new way:

Perseus fighting the Dark.

Once seen, I never got that picture of a golden hero VS the impersonation of darkness out of my head. Even if it's actually in Cygnus... The Greek name is self explanatory for a DSO. It is traditionally handed down that Zeus came to Danae (who was trapped by her father in a fenced tower) in form of a *golden* rain shower:

*** "Thou didst fall in rain of gold on Danae, Olympian Zeus, that the child might yield to thee as to a gift, and not tremble before thee as before a god." ***

And as a result, the half god and "greatest hero" Perseus was born.

NGC 7000 - "North America Nebula" [1]
The North America Nebula is a large emission nebula located in the vicinity of Deneb, the brightest star in Cygnus. The nebula is famous for its shape, which bears a striking resemblance to that of the North America continent. It occupies an area of 120 by 100 arc minutes and has a visual magnitude of 4. It lies at an approximate distance of 1,600 light years from Earth. The North America Nebula is part of the same H II region as its smaller neighbour, the Pelican Nebula (IC 5070). The two nebulae are separated by a molecular cloud of dark obscuring dust ("The Dark enemy" in my analogy) called LDN 935. They are both located in the Orion Arm of the Milky Way.The identity of the star that ionizes the nebula’s hydrogen was long uncertain and suspected by some to be Deneb, as the North America Nebula lies only 3 degrees east of the bright star. However, it is the hot, massive 6th magnitude binary star HD 199579 that is responsible for setting the nebula aglow. The star is also known as Miro’s Diamond.Despite having a large apparent size, more than four times that of the full Moon, and a visual magnitude that puts it in the visible range, the North America Nebula usually cannot be seen without binoculars because it has a low surface brightness. The portion of the nebula that exhibits the most concentrated star formation (Perseus in my analogy) is called the Cygnus Wall. It spans about 20 light years and appears as a W-shaped ridge.
