Description

What a challenging object for an OSC camera!
I used an Optolong L-eNhance filter to try to bring out the Giant Squid Nebula but it would have probably been easier with a L-eXtreme filter or, better yet, with a monochrome camera. But that's the equipment I had to deal with.

No wonder the Giant Squid portion (Ou4) was discovered only as recently as 2011. When I compare this finished result with the unprocessed image resulting from the stacking process, I realize how powerful our processing software has become. It also takes a lot of faith to not give up while accumulating the subs on which there is no indication of the actual target, except the slightly brighter SH2-129 nebula. I could also have continued accumulating additional subs but I realized I was limited anyway with the equipment I was using.

Nevertheless, I am happy with the result and satisfied that my hard work was not in vain.
