Description

The Crab Nebula supernova remnant and pulsar wind nebula, the first astronomical object identified with a historical supernova explosion (SN 1054 AD). This broadband LRGB image is based on the data taken in Oct.-Nov. 2019 and Nov. 2023 with Lacerta 250mm f4 PhotoNewton and ZWO ASI183MM Pro camera. Individual RGB and luminance exposures were taken at camera gain 110 and 200. To reduce the effects of poor atmospheric seeing, final images are stacks of the selected 20s and 30s exposures with average star FWHM < 2.5"-3". The luminance data was x2 drizzle integrated to provide finer image scale.

A close-up image of the central part of the nebula (Version B) marks the position of the Crab Pulsar and pulsar wind nebula termination shocks.

Exposure information:
L: 296x20s (Gain 110, bin 1x1), 32x30s (Gain 110, bin 1x1)
R: 829x20s (Gain 200, bin 1x1)
G: 241x20s (Gain 200, bin 1x1)
B: 250x20s (Gain 200, bin 1x1)
Total exposure: 9.2 hours
