Description

NGC 6888, the Crescent Nebula, is a large bubble blown by the Wolf-Rayet star WR 136. This massive post-main sequence star is blowing away matter from its outer layers at a prodigious rate (perhaps 10^-4 solar masses per year) and will probably die as a supernova in a few hundred thousand years.

It's much better than my previous attempts at this object, but the extended region of OIII emission seems to be a challenge. Using a new camera with a larger chip on the AT8RC. Despite (as far as I can tell) good collimation, I'm seeing distorted stars in the corners that I have to crop. Will see soon whether a field flattener helps.
