Description

This widefield image shows the star field around the Delta Lyrae cluster, a sparse open cluster of stars located about 1,220 light years away in the northern constellation of Lyra. This cluster is centered on the member star Delta2 Lyrae for which it is named.

Delta Lyrae is an optical double star. The brighter and closer of the two, Delta2 Lyrae, is a 4th-magnitude red bright giant approximately 900 light years away from Earth. The fainter blue star Delta1 Lyrae is a spectroscopic binary consisting of a B-type primary and an unknown secondary.

This image is acquired with the Takahashi FSQ-106ED refractor and FLI PL16803 camera from Telescope Live in IC Astronomy Observatory, Oria, Spain.

Total integration time 480 minutes
LRGB: 12 sub-frames of 600s with each filter.
Dataset Telescope Live.

Processing with AstroPixelProcessor, Photoshop CC with AstroPanel Pro, Astronomy Tools and NoiseXTerminator plug-ins.
