Description

This imaged was taken 15 km from the CBD of Melbourne, Australia. (This is the same telescope I normally use, just under a red zone.) This is a Bi-Colour rendition of the central part of the Great Carina Nebula. If you look closely at Eta Carinae, it’s elongated. Zooming in on this area, the shockwaves from the orbiting hypergiants stars are present.

I have always enjoyed viewing this nebula visually. It's huge and seems to have everything. It’s big; it’s bright, many large dark cavernous areas, and even has two monster stars in tight orbit blasting out more than 4 million times the luminosity of our Sun. What more could you ask for? It’s spectacular.

The intent was to capture in detail all of its beauty and rage in a single shot. From the striking shock waves, the ripples and filaments throughout the nebula, and finally, to include that amazing dance of two hypergiants shedding off their rage.
