October 2nd, 2004 - "Hubble Space Telescope has trained its razor-sharp eye on one of the universe's most stately and photogenic galaxies, the Sombrero galaxy, Messier 104. The galaxy's hallmark is a brilliant white, bulbous core encircled by the thick dust lanes comprising the spiral structure of the galaxy. As seen from Earth, the galaxy is tilted nearly edge-on. We view it from just six degrees north of its equatorial plane. This brilliant galaxy was named the Sombrero because of its resemblance to the broad rim and high-topped Mexican hat."

November 25th, 2024 - "The James Webb Space Telescope recently imaged the Sombrero galaxy with its Mid-Infrared Instrument, resolving the clumpy nature of the dust along the galaxy’s outer ring. The mid-infrared light highlights the gas and dust that are part of star formation taking place among the Sombrero galaxy’s outer disk. The rings of the Sombrero galaxy produce less than one solar mass of stars per year, in comparison to the Milky Way’s roughly two solar masses a year. It’s not a particular hotbed of star formation."

In the upper right corner, next to the 2MASS J12395005-1136105 background galaxy, a foreground star is visible.

Its motion is apparent when comapring the 2003 and 2024 frames.

MIRI Scale is 0.11 arcsec/pixel

Given that the star has moved 19 pixels 

19 x 0.11 = 20.9 arcsec

So thats about 1 arcsec per year

I was unable to find any information on this star, so as of now, distance to it remains a mystery

Maybe it is a self propelled Dyson sphere...
