NGC 6744 is a grand barred spiral, thought to be very similar in appearance to our own Milky Way galaxy,complete with a similar short bar across its core region and a week inner galaxy ring like arm. It is30 Million light years away and a whopping 175,000 light years in diameter! A large galaxy.
