      Description

I have wanted to shoot LBN 749 since I first saw it. The combination of gases and reflection nebula makes for a really diversely colored piece of sky.

I struggled for a while with GradientCorrection before switching back to DBE. The undesirable gradients in my integration were indistinguishable to the scaling functions of GC from the ones I wanted to keep I think, so the manual nature of DBE worked better for me this time.

Just around a month and a half ago I had spent some time reading up on the life of Beverly Turner Lynds who compiled the LBN and LDN (Lynds Bright and  Dark Nebulae) catalogs among many other significant contributions to astronomy. Here is a great interview with her that I highly recommend: https://www.starformation.news/newsletter/interviews/beverly-lynds.

I just learned the other day that she passed away this October at the age of 95. This image is my small tribute to her memory.
